November 4, 2026 National Task Force on Election Crises Applauds Election Workers and Voters for a Successful Election Day

In response to a successful Election Day, the National Task Force on Election Crises released the following statement:
“Yesterday we saw poll workers go above and beyond to deliver a peaceful and normal Election Day. Voters turned out strongly for this year’s midterm election, casting tens of millions of votes across the country. Where weather or equipment issues created problems, officials worked to make appropriate adjustments to allow voting to take place. The votes are now in the capable hands of election officials, who have been preparing for this election for months. They follow state laws that set out how to verify, process, count, and secure ballots, and those safeguards are what make results trustworthy.
“As we wait for final results, we encourage voters, candidates, and the media to be patient. Counting millions of ballots takes time, and accuracy is more important than speed. The election process does not end with voting, or even vote counting. Some close races may take longer due to recounts or litigation. Then the count must be finalized and certified. The will of the people is worth waiting for.
“It is unfortunate that some of this year’s election administration has unfolded under threats and baseless litigation – much of it initiated by the Trump Administration or in response to its improper efforts to control aspects of the election. We appreciate that courts have, largely, reinforced the Constitution, which puts the states and Congress, not the executive branch, in charge of federal elections. This constitutional framework remains true in the post-election period. We call on all stakeholders to respect the law and allow election officials to finalize the elections without disruption.
“We celebrate all the voters who participated and extend our gratitude to election workers everywhere whose diligence and dedication enabled eligible voters to cast their ballots and have them counted. Their work is the foundation of free and fair elections and the peaceful transfer of power.”
